Within this park, an activity park called "GRAVITATE OSAKA," featuring the 420m-long suspension bridge "GODA BRIDGE," will open in March 2025. It is gaining attention as a new tourist spot offering thrills and spectacular views.

"It's a new activity park in Ibaraki City!" said Yuta Nakatsuka, a performer from the dance and vocal group "GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE" and a native of Ibaraki City, as he tried out the cutting-edge activities at "GRAVITATE OSAKA"!

Nakatsuka-san will also serve as a special tourism ambassador for Ibaraki City from July 2021. "I knew a new facility had opened, but this is my first time here, so I'm excited," he said, snapping a commemorative photo with GRAVITATE OSAKA in the background!

Enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms and autumn leaves! Take a leisurely stroll on the grassy area surrounded by nature.

Passing through the park center, which has a multipurpose room and social space, and the dog run, we first head to Seibo Peninsula Sakura Square. This is a grassy area where you can play freely, and in addition to being a place to relax, it also hosts occasional events and markets. The rows of cherry blossoms and crape myrtles planted along the walkway display the beautiful natural scenery of each season.

Meet Ibaraki Doji, the beloved character of Ibaraki City who watches over GODA BRIDGE

As you enter the building, the 60m-tall main tower catches your eye. At the back is a monument of "Ibaraki Doji," Ibaraki City's special tourism ambassador, whose impressive figure stands watching over GODA BRIDGE. This monument was created by volunteers from member companies of the Ibaraki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and was unveiled at the commemorative ceremony before the opening.
Ibaraki Doji is a legendary demon that appears in classical literature and is said to have ravaged Mount Oe (Kyoto) during the Heian period. He is said to be the chief retainer of Shuten Doji, one of Japan's three great demons, and is widely loved in Ibaraki City, where there is a theory that he originated from Ibaraki in Settsu Province, and various monuments are dotted around the city*.
*Ibaraki Doji is a legendary figure, and there are various theories about his life and origins.
It's really cute to see them watching over GODA BRIDGE. Nakatsuka-san was also surprised by the presence of the Ibaraki Doji Monument, saying, "It's pretty big!" They took a commemorative photo of the two of them posing life-size, which made Nakatsuka-san's well-trained figure stand out even more. He's always training hard, so... he's impressive!

Ibaraki Doji is beloved by the citizens of Ibaraki, and his gaze is so clear you can't tell where he's looking. This is the first time I've seen Ibaraki Doji with such a catchy expression. He has a real presence!
Let's go to the GODA BRIDGE Bridge Walk!

The 420m long, 1.6m wide GODA BRIDGE suspension bridge is the longest pedestrian-only bridge in Japan and the third longest in the world. The naming rights were acquired by Goda Co., Ltd., known for its popular commercial "Gouda, the Sun!" Solar panels have also been installed in parts of the park, making it environmentally friendly.

The bridge walk takes about 15 to 30 minutes one way. You can be overwhelmed by the sheer length of the suspension bridge, while enjoying the scenery of the dam lake and nature below.

As we got closer to the center, the shaking got stronger, and Nakatsuka, who seemed calm at first, suddenly changed his expression and said, "It's scary...!"

I'm not afraid of heights, but the Bridge Walk was incredibly powerful and scary (laughs). I lost some of my strength after reaching the finish line. However, the space surrounded by nature was very beautiful and fascinating.
Jump from the center of the bridge! The ultimate bridge bungee

At GODA BRIDGE, you can experience bungee jumping from the center of the bridge! It's called Bridge Bungee. Under the guidance of an expert, you'll take a quick leap towards the Aigawa Dam Lake. This activity, which is one with nature, is incredibly fun.
*Staff members tried bungee jumping
Nakatsuka-san is currently on a live tour, so he decided to be on the safe side and just watch. He exclaimed "Amazing!" at the impressive performance of the participants, but it seemed he was imagining himself jumping. In addition to the bridge bungee, there is also the bridge swing, where you drop vertically and then swing through the wind above the lake, like a swing.

Bridge bungee is a little...scary (laughs). I saw myself flying from right under me. Even just the bridge walk got scarier and scarier as I got closer to the other side, and my sense of tension increased.
420 CAFE and Aigawa Dam!? Lunchtime with special curry

After the bridge walk, we had lunch at the cafe "420CAFE." This cafe has a wide variety of lunch menu items, including five types of curry and a casserole dish with coarsely ground grilled sausage. Since we were there, we decided to try the "Aigawa Dam Curry," which is inspired by the Aigawa Dam.
In Ibaraki City, more than 10 restaurants each serve their own unique dam curry, contributing to the revitalization of the local area.
Nakatsuka goes to the gym six times a week and cooks his own meals on a daily basis to keep himself in shape. When he was losing weight, he followed a strict diet centered on chicken breast and white rice, and he was conscious of his intake of protein and carbohydrates. On the other hand, he loves curry, pizza, and other spicy foods, and when he goes to a curry restaurant where he can choose the level of spiciness, he apparently orders the spiciest curry.

The dam's embankment is realistically reproduced! I love curry and eat it often. This Aigawa Dam curry is just the right amount of spicy and very delicious. However, my tongue is quite used to spicy food, so even if it was still spicy, I could handle it (lol).

Scarier than bungee? A thrilling 60m bridge climb

After filling your stomach with Aigawa Dam curry, try Bridge Climb! Bridge Climb is a new and exciting activity where you climb 420 steps round trip on your own to the top of the 60m-high pillar on the suspension bridge. Even looking up from the bottom can be nerve-wracking, but the view from the top of the pillar is undeniably spectacular. You can get a wider view of the Osaka cityscape.
If you'd like to try the Bridge Climb, first speak to a staff member. After paying the fee and receiving instructions, you'll put on a special safety harness and move to the Bridge Climb. You'll then connect your safety rope to the wire yourself on the stairs, and aim to reach the top.

To be honest, it was scarier than the Bridge Walk... (laughs). Even though it's the same suspension bridge, the type of fear is completely different when you're climbing up to the top! I couldn't stop getting goosebumps.

Nakatsuka's stiff expression was actually quite adorable, and the filming team was ecstatic.
Take a break with matcha sweets from a container shop

Inside GRAVITATE OSAKA, there is a container shop that sells snacks and sweets. This time, we tried the matcha sweets at "Chasho," which features a menu of high-quality matcha and Japanese pepper from Zuishoen in Kyoto. Soothe your fatigue with matcha and matcha warabi mochi.
The signature menu item is the "Age Bread Matcha Soft Serve." The rich matcha soft serve ice cream and the deep-fried bread filled with sweet bean paste are both hearty and light. It was such a popular item that almost everyone who stopped by in the summer of 2025 ordered it.

This is a must-try for matcha lovers! It's perfect for soothing your tired body.
There are other fascinating container shops, so be sure to check them out when you visit GRAVITATE OSAKA!

Finish off with souvenirs and seasonal sweets at 420 STORE

Finally, shop at 420STORE! They have a wide variety of products, including GRAVITATE OSAKA original sweets, outdoor goods, and character goods like Ibaraki Doji. They're also perfect as souvenirs for family and friends.

The evolution continues! Plans for Dam Park Ibakita

Dam Park Ibakita has become even more popular with the opening of GRAVITATE OSAKA. It also has an outdoor stage for various events, a grassy area where you can play freely, playground equipment, and other open spaces, making it a space that you can easily visit.
From 2026 onwards, we are considering expanding the event space and the food and beverage space at GRAVITATE OSAKA, and also considering the development of BBQ and glamping options. Taking advantage of the calm waters of the Aigawa Dam Lake, we also plan to offer water activities such as stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing, and to develop an artificial turf field for soccer and rugby matches, a first for Ibaraki City.

I had a lot of different experiences in one day at GRAVITATE OSAKA. It was a lot of fun, with so many fun spots to enjoy, not just the suspension bridge that was the main attraction. I'm proud that such a magnificent facility has been built in my hometown of Ibaraki City, and I hope it continues to grow in popularity.

This time, we have focused on GRAVITATE OSAKA, an activity park that opened within Dam Park Ibakita. Not only does it offer gravity-based activities that integrate you with nature on Japan's longest suspension bridge at 420 meters, but it also has a wide selection of gourmet food and sweets, making it a place that people of all ages can enjoy all day long.
This is the first attempt in Ibaraki City to establish a private facility within a park through a public-private partnership. Dam Park Ibakita will continue to develop so that people will want to visit even if it's a little far away. If you live in Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, or a nearby prefecture, you can come for a day trip, so please come and make some memories.
